New (and unexpected) photos of Soo-Bear!

Last week, we received some new photos of our little Soo! These were completely unexpected, as we did not believe we would receive updated photos for a while longer. Nevertheless, we are thrilled to share these new pictures of our little guy!

Also, as the title of the blog indicates, we have continued to modify our nick-names for him, based on derivations of "Soo." One of the leading contenders right now is "Soo-Bear," with "Soo-Buddy" and "Soo-Bunny" also strong favorites. Regardless of the name, we are so very excited about our new little addition, and we're now trying to calculate the days until we can travel to Korea.

Speaking of, here's a quick report on the status of our process: We are currently in the final steps to receive travel clearance. At this time, we're finalizing some immigration paperwork (both in Korea and the U.S.). The South Korean government will soon be reviewing our application to ensure that we meet the requirements as adoptive parents before they issue emigration permission (EP). After EP, the process will begin for issuing Soo's Korean passport, which is an independent process from the U.S. visa approval. Yes, little Soo will already have a visa!! No, not that kind of visa... Right now, we're waiting for the arrival of his legal documents from South Korea (should be anytime now). Once they arrive, we will file with USCIS, which begins the visa process (typically takes about a month to process). Once the passport is issued and the visa approved, then we will travel within 2-4 weeks!

At times like these during the "document-intesive" portions of this process, we are reminded of how blessed and grateful we are to be working with such great folks at our agency! They are the best!

  1. Thank you so much for sharing! I looks like he's ready to give and receive lots of lovin' and his laid back smile is so sweet. I can't wait to meet Soo-buddy! Being from Arkansas, I'd like to nominate "OOOOOO Pig Soo-ee!"
