Our Last Day as a Family of Two...

Well, we have had two gorgeous days here in Seoul (we forgot to mention yesterday how beautiful the weather was for us - guess we had something else more important to talk about). The photos below are backwards chronologically...but we are too tired to try to upload them again.

Today we tried to capture some images related to Soo-bear's first year without us. First, we walked by the American Embassy where he and his foster mother probably had to wait in line for many hours to receive his visa. By the way, the American Embassy would be the extremely ugly brown building in the bottom picture.

After a bit of shopping (which appears to be the national past-time in Korea), we ventured out to Bucheon to visit his birthplace. We met Miss Lee (our guide) at the subway platform near Bucheon, and she escorted us to the University Hospital which is affiliated with the Catholic church. We were warmly greeted by a social worker, the nurses and a couple sisters (nuns). To our surprise, they gave us gowns and slippers (you take your shoes off everywhere here), and then ushered us into the nursery and gave us a full tour. We were privileged to see the babies in the NICU as well as the nursery for the "healthy" babies. We even met one nurse who would have been working there when our son was in the nursery. After our tour through the nursery our group posed for a photo (below).

Then, to our continued surprise, we "assisted" Miss Lee and another case worker from Eastern with escorting an 8 day old baby girl from the Bucheon University Hospital to the Eastern Babies Home. (Basically we rode back to Seoul with them as they brought a beautiful baby to Eastern.) Miss Lee and her counterpart were so friendly and answered all of our (probably silly) questions about the child placement processes.

After returning to Eastern, we headed to the Korean National Museum (beautiful), and then treated ourselves to some pretty darn good Italian food in the middle of Seoul. On our way back to the hotel we asked someone to take our photo in front of the palace gate.

Tomorrow we will receive Cameron! Wow...the day we have been waiting and waiting for is FINALLY almost here. We did learn today that it will be about 3 hours later than previously scheduled but what's 3 hours after we have waited this long?! We would appreciate your continued prayers for our day tomorrow as it will be very difficult for Cameron Soo. We believe we have all the supplies we need, but we're thankful there is a 24 hour convenience store on the lobby level of our hotel - just in case. We hope to be able to send more photos tomorrow but know you will understand if we are unable to do so because we are getting to know our son.
