We're still here and Cameron has glasses!

We've been very bad about posting recently and we're sorry for the lack of updates and photos. Truth is, Cameron is so enamoured with computers that we don't attempt to update while he's around, and that leaves very little time in each day for Jai and Marsh to work on the blog.

Since our last post, Cameron survived his first Christmas at home, his first blizzard, and his first experience with Oklahoma allergies! Oh yeah, and he got some new glasses!

Christmas was wonderful! Although we missed seeing family in St. Louis, it was really nice to spend Christmas just as a little family. Cameron was completely oblivious to the concept of wrapped presents - we had to show him that it was okay to rip the paper on each present, and then each newly opened present occupied him for quite a while. We're not complaining, but his funny little routine resulted in a 12-hour gift marathon!

We made it through January without any snow or even any seriously cold weather. In fact, we were out in shorts on the last weekend of January and Cameron explored a new park.

Less than four days later, Tulsa was hit by a blizzard! Cameron was somewhat interested in the snow - he was really happy to get outside - but his first face-plant into a snow bank was not pleasant. We also learned that an 18-month-old can have difficulty navigating 14 inches of snow!

Also in last part of January, we learned that Cameron would need glasses. We had been noticing that his left eye would turn inward when he was focusing on objects at certain distances. Turns out, this is a condition called Strabismus, which has something to do with weakened muscles around the eye - if not addressed, it could cause the muscles to atrophy and cause a permanent "lazy eye" condition. We also learned that he is far-sighted, although we're still not sure the doctor can tell! In any event, he is now rocking some awesome glasses.
We were a little concerned, because he threw a fit when trying on frames and we thought we would be in a struggle. But after they got his prescription lenses in, Cameron loves to wear his glasses and looks for them first thing most mornings. We suppose that means they really do improve his vision. Poor little guy - we wonder what he was thinking all that time with bad eyesight and no way of knowing it!

We will try to update the blog more regularly, even if it is just to provide updated photos.

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners - of whom I am the worst." 1 Timothy 1:15
